The hurricane platters are the response of glass artist, Andrew Young, to the events surrounding Hurricane Katrina, which had such a profound impact on Mississippi and our gulf coast. Artists strive to be a part of their time and place in a meaningful way. Everyone who lives in the gulf coast region has a story to tell, if not about Katrina, then about the effects of a hurricane on them or someone close. Each platter is made separately; the shapes and textures are different for each one.
These artworks and many more are also available in our studio’s gallery, which is open every weekday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
